MEET OUR STAFF
Dr. Marsha Boyd-Mitchell
B.Sc., M.Ed., Ed.D.
Has been teaching since 1998 and has served as Principal of Sussex Christian School since 2001. Marsha has a B.Sc. in Christian School Education from Kingswood University, a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Cairn University and an Educational Doctorate from Liberty University.
VP-Administration & High School Math
Has been teaching since 1985 and currently teaches in the High School Math department. She is a graduate of theUniversity of New Brunswick and completed her Master’s Degree from Cairn University with research emphasis in 21st Century math methods.
Mrs. Pamela Alward
Head Teacher & Co-homeroom Grades 7-8
Began teaching in 1985 and currently serves as SCS Head Teacher. She is also a mentor and a coach to new and existing staff. Pam holds two Master’s Degrees in education one from Pensacola Christian College (Christian Education) and the other from University of New Brunswick (Curriculum). She has been teaching at SCS since 2002.
Miss Jennifer Carruthers
Teaches High School Social Studies and MIddle/High School ESL. Miss Carruthers is the homeroom teacher for Grade 9. She has a depth of experience working in different cultures. Miss Carruthers is a graduate of Kingswood University and is working on a Master’s degree from Cairn University in Education.
Mr. Steve Cowper
Teaches High School Math and Sciences. Mr. Cowper is the Support Teacher for our online reports and curriculum, as well as the homeroom for Grade 11. He will be the teacher advisor for the Science and Math focused students. Mr. Cowper is a graduate of the University of New Brunswick. He has recently completed his Master’s of Teaching degree at Liberty University.
Mrs. Sherry Cowper
Teaches Grade 4 Math and Language. She co-homerooms Grades 7-8, and teaches High School Studio Art. She has over 25 years teaching experience at SCS. She is a graduate of Kingswood University’s Christian School EducationProgram as well as a graduate student at Cairn University.
Mr. Andrew Dorey
Andrew co-directs the WINGS Program (Working with Individuals Needing Guidance for Success). He has extensive experience in working with youth with exceptionalities. Mr. Dorey works individually with a select group of students, as well as, provides direction for elementary chapel, elementary music, and elementary physical education. This couple continues professional development through the University of New Brunswick.
Mrs. Tanya Fritz Dorey
Elementary Physical Education and Music. Tanya Dorey co-directs the WINGS Program (Working with Individuals Needing Guidance for Success). Mrs. Anne Graham
B.A. (Psychology), M.A. (Applied Psychology), L.P.
Works in a part time role at SCS to provide private office hours, classroom time with students and consultation to administration. Over the past twenty years Anne has worked with children, adolescents, and their families in various capacities. Anne has a BA in Psychology, MA in Applied Psychology and is licensed with the college of applied psychologists of NB.
Mrs. Debra Gray
Mrs. Gray is the JK department director. She oversees our 3 and 4 year-old programs. She is a graduate of NBCC where she received her diploma in Early Childhood Education. Her early childhood program at SCS has received the honour of the #1 preschool in Sussex for the fourth year in a row.
Mrs. Brenda Landry
Kindergarten to Grade 1 teacher. Mrs. Landry is joining us for her fourth year at SCS. She leads her classroom with great zeal and desires every student feel value. Mrs. Landry is a graduate of Kingswood University and taught for 9 years at Halifax Christian Academy before coming to SCS.
Mrs. Vicky Lee
Director of ESL program and assists our foreign students in ESL. Mrs. She also heads up our ESL Maritime Adventure Camps. Mrs. Lee also provides support to our International students throughout the school year.
Mrs. Sherry McCallum
B.A. (CSE), M.Ed.
Teaches Grades 4-6. Mrs. McCallum is a graduate of Kingswood University and has finished her Master’s from Cairn University. She is a creative, hardworking teacher who meets her students each year with enthusiasm and a new class theme.
Mrs. Tina McDonald
Meet Tina McDonald who will facilitate electives for High School students this coming year. Mrs. McDonald is a graduate of New Brunswick Bible Institute and Covington Theological Seminary. Mrs. McDonald has many years of practical experience working with teens. We are excited to have her on our team overseeing our High School elective department. She is currently a Master’s of Education student at Cairn University.
Dr. Jeff McInnis
B.A., M.A. (Hist)., D.Lit.
Teaches a variety of courses in the humanities and ESL. Grade 10 homeroom Teacher. Dr. McInnis is an English Literature specialist who has an earned a doctorate in English from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland. He is a tremendous asset in areas of ESL, and High School History and English.
Mrs. Eleanor McVicar
Teaches Grades 2-3. Mrs. McVicar comes with a career of supply teaching and children’s ministry in the life of the church. She serves as “first lady” at Havelock Wesleyan Church alongside husband Glenn. Eleanor is a graduate of Christian School Education from Kingswood University.
Miss Gloria Park
We are excited to have Gloria Park from South Korea do an extended internship with us for the next two years. Miss Park will be working with our WINGS program as well as teaching and learning throughout our elementary program. She is excited to make SCS International students feel welcome as they come to Sussex from a variety of places in the world. Gloria is a graduate of Kingswood University and Miss Park is studying a Master’s of Education from Cairn University.
Mme. Heidi Peddle
Teaches French for Grades K-12. Ms. Peddle has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology from St. Thomas University and is completely bilingual. She brings with her a wealth of experience running programming for children in the Sussex area.
Mrs. Kathye Wilson
B.S. (CSE), M.Ed.
Teaches High School English, Math and is and teacher advisor for humanities- focused students. Mrs. Wilson is also be the Duke of Edinburgh staff representative. She is a graduate of Kingswood University and has completed a Master’s of Education from Cairn University.
Rev. Mark Worth
B.A. (Religion), B. Ed.
Middle School/ High School Chaplin
Teaches Bible and is the Middle/High School chaplain. Mr. Worth is a graduate of Kingswood University and has completed a Master’s of Education degree from Cairn University. Mr. Worth is also lead pastor at Penobsquis Baptist Church.
Mrs. Maggie Bean
Physical Education teacher and Athletic Director for Sussex Christian School. She also organizes an extended athletic program for Sussex Christian School. She also assists with the WINGS program. Mrs. Bean has a background in helping in school and implementing a variety of personal fitness activities and team sports; she also has experience assisting exceptional students.
Mr. Ben Canney
B.A. (Youth Ministry)
Middle & High School/Youth Ministry
Teaches Outdoor Pursuits and Outward Bound.Mr. Canney has worked over 20 years with youth in the life of the church. He is the director of Camp Tulakadik on New Brunswick’s beautiful Cassidy Lake. Mr. Canney is an enthusiastic leader and a great outdoorsman. Students love the opportunity to take Mr. Canney’s classes and enjoy learning about the Great Atlantic Canadian Outdoors.
Mr. John Carroll
Pastor Carroll studied at Acadia University and Acadia Divinity School from 1975-1981 (B.A. B.Th, M.Div.). He was in full time church ministry from 1981-2005. In 2005 he earned D. Min. in preaching from Gordon Conwell. We are pleased to have Dr. Carroll teaching a bible based worldview course to our oldest high school students.
Mrs. Lora Carter
Elementary / Hot Lunch Coordinator
Elementary Educational Assistant and Hot lunch coordinator for the school. After several years of home-schooling, she and her husband, Jason, chose to enroll their three daughters in Sussex Christian School. Lora has her own-home-based baking business, and as such, has her food-handling certification. Her skills in the kitchen have made her a valuable asset as the hot lunch coordinator for the school. Mrs. Carter also serves an educational assistant in the elementary grades.
Mrs. Vicki Graham
Vicki has worked in the school office since 2001 and continues to anchor the SCS office. Vicki was a “hockey mom” and continues to volunteer as treasurer of her local hockey club. She is a member of the Board of Trustees of Sussex Wesleyan, and enjoys spending time with her three grandchildren.
Mrs. Debbie Moss
Debbie has worked in the school office since the fall of 2011. She has been active in her church for many years as Sunday School Superintendent and teacher. She also maintains the financial records for her husband’s carpentry business.
Mr. Preston Mowry
Teaches Computer classes to High School. Mr. Mowry is a graduate of NBBI. He is a former youth pastor and currently serves as a senior pastor in the local area.
Miss Beth Neill
Elementary Educational Assistant. Miss Neill received a Bachelor of Nursing Degree from UNB in 1997. She currently works at the Sussex Health Centre and has been volunteering at SCS since 2006. Beth has worked at local Bible camps as well as being involved with children’s ministries in her home church. She loves working with children, which is evident from the time that she freely gives to Sussex Christian School.
Mrs. Pat Taylor
Administration assistant. Mrs. Taylor and her husband have been career missionaries, having spent twelve years in Haiti and four in Africa (Rwanda and Swaziland). Previously, Pat was the secretary for SCS and Sussex Wesleyan Church for seven years before going to Africa. She now offers her time to the school once a week to assist the Administration of the school in whatever capacity needed.
